Amazon Neptune

Amazon Neptune: Amazon Neptune supports popular graph models Property Graph and W3C’s RDF, and their respective query languages Apache TinkerPop Gremlin and SPARQL, allowing you to easily build queries that efficiently navigate highly connected datasets.

AWS Neptune powers graph use cases such as recommendation engines, fraud detection, knowledge graphs, drug discovery, and network security. Amazon Neptune is a fast, reliable, fully-managed graph database service that makes it easy to build and run applications that work with highly connected datasets.

The core of Amazon Neptune is a purpose-built, high-performance graph database engine optimized for storing billions of relationships and querying the graph with milliseconds latency. Amazon Neptune is highly available, with reading replicas, point-in-time recovery, continuous backup to Amazon S3, and replication across Availability Zones.

Neptune is secure with support for encryption at rest. AWS Neptune is fully-managed, so you no longer need to worry about database management tasks such as hardware provisioning, software patching, setup, configuration, or backups.

Amazon Neptune Benefits

High Performance and scalability

The Amazon Neptune provides a high-performance graph database. It can be optimized to process graph queries. The Amazon Neptune supports nearly 15 low latency read duplicates from 3 availability zones that are used to scale the read capacity and execute more number of queries.

Open Graph API

The Gremlin and SPARQL are the graph API’s that supports Amazon Neptune and provides high performance for both graph models and query language. The standard query language is SPARQL and it allows you to choose the Property Graph model and the query language that is open source is Apache TinkerPop Gremlin or W3C standard RDF (Resource Description Framework).

Fully Managed

The Amazon Neptune automatically monitors and backs up your database with the help of Amazon S3 and allows point-in-time recovery. The Amazon CloudWatch continuously monitors the database performance.

Highly Available and Durable

The Amazon Neptune has highly available, durable and has ACID properties. The Neptune provides almost 100% availability and its features are fault-tolerance and self-healing storage for the cloud that creates six copies of your data with 3 availability zones. The Amazon S3 is used to get continuously back up for your data and also recovers data from storage failures less than 30 seconds.

Highly Secure

The Amazon Neptune contributes to multi-level security to your database like Amazon VPC for the isolated network, authentication for endpoint access with IAM, HTTPS-encrypted client connections, Encryption with keys that you have created and control via Key Management Service(KMS).
